Kate Wolff, BCBA, UKBA (cert)

Kate Wolff, BCBA, UKBA (cert)

Therapist

Kate has worked in this field for more than 25 years. She specialises in early childhood intervention and integration into mainstream school settings through to secondary. Kate’s interest in behavioural science began in 1999 when she left a successful early career in the Telecommunications sector in London working for a French company. She retrained in Psychology and started working as an ABA tutor working one-to-one with young autistic children. The transformative impact of intensive behavioural therapy sparked a lifelong commitment to the field of ABA.

Today, Kate works primarily with children aged between 1-11 years, supporting individuals with a range of developmental profiles. Her work focuses on early intervention to teach functional communication through play and reducing barriers to learning using an evidence-based compassionate practice.

Kate’s core passion is teaching communication whether through spoken language, sign language or assistive communication device. By tapping into each child’s natural motivation, she teaches children to ask for what they want and need. This significantly reduces frustration and problem behaviours while opening the door to social interaction, play, academic learning and other independent skills. As children develop focus and attention, integration into mainstream school settings is supported using a collaborative approach between ABA and education staff.

As well as working directly with children, Kate is committed to training parents and ABA teams and she collaborates with schools to develop effective practices that are implemented within schools. Kate travels to Rwanda three times a year where she practices trauma-informed, compassionate behavioural therapy at Solid Minds Counselling Clinic in Kigali.

Kate has published research in a peer-reviewed journal (Journal of Applied Behaviour Analysis – JABA) and is increasingly specialising in very early intervention for infants.
